| So yesterday instead of nuking posts, I thought I'd put some miles on the rotary beast up at Thunderhill Raceway. [ http://www.thunderhill.com/ ] 2.8 miles of twisting asphalt. I was there 2 weeks ago for a 2 day event, so I already knew about the changes to the track. ;) This was another NASA event, and being a weekday event they had just 3 run groups; group 2, 3 & 4. I ran in group 3, high intermediate. Full range of cars present: STIs Evos Audi S4 M3s Miatas Honda challenge Civics S2000s GTi A legends car RX7s like they were 3 for $5. Corvettes, C5s and C6s Pay nose Porsche 944s, GT3s, 911 350Z 280Z Volvos Camaro Dodge Stealth 540i I had a great day. I'm still learning, and I'm relatively slow. BUT, I was faster than 2 of 3 miatas, the 337 GTi, a BMW, the "modifed" fiero, etc. At the end I was almost keeping up with a spec Miata, who was turning 2:16s to 2:18s. The miata and I absolutely WORKED a 540i at the end of the day. The pig luxury barge held us up for a solid 2 laps, fishtailing in the turns. He FINALLY waved us on, and in 2 turns, I couldn't see him in my mirrors. Just plain WORKED. The highlight of the day was getting waved on by the "Corvette Conga Line" made up of 2 C5s, and 2 C6s. Granted they were learning, but we WERE in group 3, and to be in that group one MUST have driven the track. rattle trap rx7 :$3k 10 track days :$2k being waved on by a 400hp C6 vette: Priceless I drove about 170 miles on the track. I appologize for the pics, I'm no photographer. I'll save you all the horror of pics of cars behind chainlink fence. And no, I don't have more pics of any of the cars, and don't know much more info. BEAUTIFUL day in NorCal, sunny, blue skies, low 70s. Let's start with the box shot!
They were slow. And I mean real slow. Slow in the corners, and slower down the straights. Maybe my new NGK plugs I put in the night before made them seem slower, but I doubt it. The super big dollar pit. AKA Home Base. Please pay attention to the awesome wedding gift tool box! It's nicer than the race car.
One of 2 GT3s, a red one and this silver car. I was told that a honda challenge car was faster than this uber sled. This better not have been Shirow, he claims he was at "work".

Damn ricers
1 of the 944s (of several) in the ESSES
Pay Nose at speed. And loud.
Z SIGHTING, get all excited. :p
 Yeah, it's a tough life.
 More of the tough life.
Speaking of tough life, the rumor is this is THE Vishnu car, that won Car & Drivers' "One Lap". The owner bought it from Vishnu, and had it detuned to just 500hp (to the ground) so he could learn to drive it. He was in group2. This is what I "heard".

Z SIGHTING part deau. I spoke with the guy, and I think I convinced him to come out with [ www.clubz.org ] This was his first track event, and he's hooked.
John from Evil Genius Racing out of Davis. One of my many rx7 info gurus.
Clean, clean clean. Did I mention clean? Hard to beat something so clean, with so much power.
Oh, wait, I spoke a tad too soon. Can someone say "Grand Sport"?

Final word: Track it.
 ummmmm..can we just post about cars? (n/m) - College Boy 08:55:03 04/28/05
